Background of the Study

Cloud computing, the delivery of computing services over the internet, has revolutionized industries by offering scalable, cost-effective, and easily accessible solutions for data storage, collaboration, and software applications. In the educational sector, cloud computing enables schools to provide students and teachers with access to learning materials, administrative tools, and real-time communication without the need for heavy physical infrastructure. This flexibility is especially beneficial for secondary schools that may face budgetary constraints or limited access to technological resources.

In Bauchi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, cloud computing presents an opportunity to modernize education and improve school management. Despite the growing global use of cloud technologies, many secondary schools in the region are yet to fully adopt this solution. This study seeks to explore the factors influencing the adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools in Bauchi and its impact on teaching and administrative processes.

Statement of the Problem

The integration of cloud computing into secondary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area has been slow due to several barriers, including inadequate infrastructure, limited awareness, and resistance to change. These challenges hinder the potential benefits that cloud computing could offer in enhancing educational quality, data management, and communication. This study aims to investigate the reasons behind the slow adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools in Bauchi and evaluate its impact on school operations.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To explore the factors influencing the adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area.

  2. To assess the impact of cloud computing on teaching, learning, and administrative processes in secondary schools.

  3. To identify the challenges and benefits associated with adopting cloud computing in secondary schools.

Research Questions

  1. What factors influence the adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area?

  2. How does cloud computing impact teaching, learning, and administrative processes in secondary schools?

  3. What are the challenges and benefits of adopting cloud computing in secondary schools?

Research Hypotheses

  1. There are significant factors that influence the adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area.

  2. The use of cloud computing positively impacts teaching, learning, and administrative processes in secondary schools.

  3. There are both challenges and benefits associated with the adoption of cloud computing in secondary schools.

Significance of the Study

The study will provide insights into the barriers and facilitators of cloud computing adoption in secondary schools, offering recommendations for overcoming these challenges. By highlighting the benefits, the research could guide policymakers and school administrators in the implementation of cloud technologies to enhance educational outcomes.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study will focus on secondary schools in Bauchi Local Government Area, Bauchi State. Limitations include varying levels of access to cloud computing infrastructure and the availability of skilled personnel to manage the technology.
